  1. Great video, though it might be a lot better for us non US earthlings in the rest of the world, if you didn't refer to coins for sizing, as I don't have a clue what you are talking about, with regard to the size of US coins. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I was disappointed. Went to the site to order a blade and they don't make them to fit the Rikon 10-3061. I even tried the custom blade and it has to be at least 72", Rikon takes a 70.5".

  3. understandably it comes off with a bit of bias, and it just seems weird to not touch on blades like a resaw king when its so highly touted for cut quality and its durability. yes theyre expensive as hell, but they can also be sharpened multiple times so its not as big a deal. i get it, running a really wide 3/4 blade through a half hp or even 1hp saw would be a ton of work. but id imagine modern day 1 3/4hp and up saws can run a 3/4 through most domestic hardwoods without too much hassle and other then attempting to resaw a full 12" of very dense exotics it wouldnt be outta its element. slow sure, and def not the saw and blade youd wanna run all day everyday doing that, but an garage shop worker is probably trying to maximize all of his $103/bf ebony stock lol

  4. I ordered a couple of the 5/8 Greenwood blades for my new Harvey bandsaw. WOW, what a difference, night and day!!!! The Carter blade cuts straight and smooth, so much better. Thanks so much for making this video, it definitely put me on the right path!

  5. I’m cutting cypress wood from 1 inch thick an some up to two inch thick wood not making any sharp radius cuts what would be a good blade to use my saw is an old sears model 113 12 inch bandsaw

  6. Thanks so much for this information!!! This is great! I just ordered a Harvey C14 primarily for re-sawing. Intuitively, it makes sense that the wider the blade the better for re-sawing. The C14 will take a 1" blade but it sounds like you are suggesting the 5/8" blade. It sounds like my theory of bigger is better (like 1" would be better than 3/4" or 5/8") is flawed (which is why you are making awesome videos and I am not lol). Can you explain the flaw in my theory a little please? I was going to DM you but I am sure there is at least one other person out here that could benefit from the response. Thanks again, you are awesome!

  7. Alex, just watched several of your videos on band saw setup and I still have problem with “drift” when cutting even ½” wood. I have set blade with curf at middle of wheel, adjusted side guides (bearings) per your direction, thrust bearing as directed, varied tension from high to low, made sure table is square to blade et al. I am using a Rigdig 14” saw and just cannot seem to make a straight cut unless I feed wood VERY slow and even then it still drifts at later part of cut. Do you have any suggestions? Ray. Huntsville, AL

  8. Hi Alex is it normal that my bandsaw is making a ticking noise when switching off and the revs of the motor start getting slower? I am sure it is coming from the motor, is it something to worry about or is it normal?

  9. Hi Alex, I have another question. I'm looking at purchasing a 14inch bandsaw with a 2hp motor and I'd like to resaw some 200mm thick hardwood railway sleepers. Would that size saw be too small ? And what would be the best blade for that please ? Cheers, Mike

  10. Hi Alex, when you jump down to the stabilizer for the 1/4 inch or less blade do you need 2 stabilizers, one for the top guide and one for the bottom guide underneath the table ?

  11. I just picked up a 1955 Delta Milwaukee 14" that's in great condition, it's my first "quality" saw and I'm doing a deep dive into the topic with your videos. Thank you for all the information!

  12. Thanks for the info. I’m interested in that GW 3/8” blade for a 12” craftsman I’ve refreshed. Do you know if it’s available in 91”‘lengths? What TPI was that blade? If it’s not available do you have any alternate suggestions?

  13. Hello Mr. Snodgrass and Thanks for Your time and all the informative content.

I’ve just bought my first Bandsaw it’s a:

    Harvey Industries, AMBASSADOR C14 3HP 14" bandsaw, it takes a 125” blade.

I will be following your suggestions on blades with a.

    Custom 3/8 GW" x 125" x 3 — Resaw & wider radius

Custom 3/16" x 125" x 4 — tighter radius, would this be okay for outside of bandsaw boxes?

Custom 1/8" x 125" x 14 — bandsaw box drawers and other tight radius work.

Also, I see a lot of recommendations for the Laguna Resaw King, but I don’t see it offered in anything below ¾ width. Will this width work with my bandsaw? I know you recommended not going above ⅝ width on a 14” bandsaw but the quality of cut and the lifespan of said quality cuts have raised my interests and could use a little help with this decision. This blade would be for quality cuts on dry woods with the capability of clean veneer sizes and also bookmatched grain patterns.

Carter doesn’t offer a "Band Saw Stabilizer® Guide System for Scroll Cutting" for my bandsaw. Can you point me to an alternative manufacturer or info on an alternate method/bandsaw set-up for making these kinds of tight radius cuts?

Thank You so much for all the excellent info you've provided to the woodworking community.

    Mike Lopez

  14. Absolute newbie here. The band saw I am looking at has a blade length of 116". I haven't found a Carter Greenwood blade size 3/8" x 116". The closest I have found is 3/8" x 115". Please advise.

  15. I love your videos. VERY informative. I have a 10" Rikon bandsaw and would like to purchase the Carter blade guide and other attachments however, they are not listed on your web site. What attachments do you offer for the Rikon 10", I mainly use the half and 3/8" bl;ades but sometimes need the 1/4" and would need the guide to fit my saw. Thanks for your help anbd keep the videos comming.

  16. This is a Really Great Video for finding the best blade for your own use. I was going to buy a Harvey 14" Saw but take's a little different length blade. Is the Rikon a good choice or would you pick a different brand saw? Thanks

  17. Manalive?!

Ive been watching your bandsaw tune up videos on Youtube recently. And I just stumbled across this (your) YouTube channel! I instantly subscribed!

I just bought a new 19" Grizzly G0514x bandsaw; my very first bandsaw and large purchase! I'm super excited and I'm so glad I have the plethora of videos of your teaching to guide me from making a ton of newbie mistakes!!

You're the best! Thank you for posting your videos and sharing your knowledge with the world!

  18. Great video! I placed an order for one of each size of the Green Wood blades, 5/8 and 3/8. I expect the 3/8 will spend most of it's time on my Harvey Alpha 15" bandsaw. I look forward to trying both out. Cheers!

  19. Man, I wanted to buy some of the Carter Blades you recommended but the cost for shipping two blades was more than the cost of actual blades. They offer no alternative to UPS ground shipping.

  20. What would you recommend as a good resaw blade for a Grizzly G0555XH. I have several 10" boards I need to resaw. I've been researching blades to purchase and have the 3/8 Green Wood Blade in my cart to order. Thanks.

  21. I have a powermatic 14" band saw with riser block. My question is can i use the blade stabilizer and attach it to the saw without having to buy carter guides and change the whole saw.

  22. Great info on blades! I heard your recommendation on the greenwood 3/8” in another video m, and was going to ask for more info. Now I understand the reasoning— it’s like running a decent combo blade on a table saw, rather than constantly changing back and forth between a rip blade and a crosscut blade. Thanks for covering all the different choices.

  23. Great information. I thought I would try the 3/8” blade for my Delta 14” bandsaw, but I wasn’t sure which blade to choose. The website had the 3/8” 4TPI and they also had the 3/8” 3TPI green wood blade listed. What is the difference other than TPI?
